Key Features
- Analyzes toxic combustion gases — carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride, bromide, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen fluoride and sulfur dioxide — from samples heated in a pipe furnace at 400°C, 600°C or 800°C for 40 minutes, to NF X 70-100 (Pipe Still method)
- Qualifies railway cable and wire toxicity to BS 6853 Annex B, EN 45545-2 Part 2 (fire behaviour of materials and components) and EN 50305 for rolling-stock cables with special fire performance
- Dedicated Test Start, Heater Power, Main Power and Emergency switches with Air On/Off supply control and a primary-heater flowmeter, alongside Heater Center Temp and Control Temp devices to measure and regulate furnace temperature
- Fire-resistant sampling tube resists corrosion from the test's combustion gases, with Purge and Vent On/Off controls, Center and Control thermocouple connectors, a spare T/C, and a sampling diagram for repeatable gas collection
- Reports reproducibility of ±20% at 600°C/800°C and 30% at 400°C from the average of three separate determinations, measuring CO, CO₂, HBr, HCl, HCN, HF and SO₂
- 1,500 × 450 × 700mm furnace unit on a 2,000 × 900 × 800mm table, AC 220V single-phase power, with compressed air, hood, duct and dust-collector utilities
About the Toxicity Analysis Tester
The Toxicity Analysis Tester (model TSF-236) from FT Solutions Co., Ltd. (FESTEC), South Korea, analyses the toxic gases released when a sample is heated in a pipe furnace, to NF X 70-100 (pipe still method). The sample is heated at 400 °C, 600 °C or 800 °C for 40 minutes, and the tester measures carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen bromide, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen fluoride and sulphur dioxide.
The tester is used to qualify railway cable and wire toxicity to BS 6853 Annex B, EN 45545-2 Part 2 (fire behaviour of materials and components) and EN 50305 for rolling-stock cables with special fire performance. Dedicated Test Start, Heater Power, Main Power and Emergency switches, an Air On/Off supply control and heater centre and control temperature devices keep the furnace under control, while a fire-resistant sampling tube withstands corrosion from the combustion gases. Results are reported as the average of three separate determinations, with a reproducibility of ±20% at 600 °C and 800 °C and 30% at 400 °C.

Toxicity Analysis Tester: frequently asked questions
Which gases does the Toxicity Analysis Tester measure?
Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen bromide, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen fluoride and sulphur dioxide, from a sample heated in a pipe furnace at 400 °C, 600 °C or 800 °C for 40 minutes.
Which standards does the TSF-236 cover?
NF X 70-100 (pipe still method), BS 6853 Annex B (fire test for toxicity on railway wire and cable), EN 45545-2 Part 2 and EN 50305 for rolling-stock cables with special fire performance.
How repeatable are the results?
Reproducibility is ±20% at 600 °C and 800 °C and 30% at 400 °C, taken from the average of three separate determinations.
What are the installation requirements for the TSF-236?
The furnace unit measures 1,500 × 450 × 700 mm on a 2,000 × 900 × 800 mm table and weighs 60 kg. It needs an AC 220 V, 50/60 Hz, 15 A supply, compressed air, and hood, duct and dust-collector extraction.
